Located at 1350 Middle Huaihai Road, Yuyuan Garden was built in 1941 with 15 three-storey houses in four rows. The first row has three detached houses and both the 2nd and the 3rd row have four houses attached to each other. The 4th row consists of two buildings with two row houses in each. It is a new-style lane residence with the main lane is 6 meters in width and the sub-lanes are 4 meters in width and an excluded yard of about 40 square meters lies in front of each house. The back door of the kitchen and the flat roof on the top floor demonstrate unique characteristics of Shanghai Lane residences. Another distinctive feature of this sort residence is the honorific arch-shaped stone gate built under traditional Chinese architectures.
