The 1998 Shanghai International Fashion Culture Festival (SIFCF) introducted a new event: the International Photographic Mode Contest, held concurrently with the Stage Model Contest. Each contest focused on a specific type of modeling--for the camera and for the stage-and the different talents required for each arena.

Excellent domestic and international models met hrer, exhibiting their figures, attitudes, and catwalk technique, and left audience members with a new perspective on both fashion and modeling.
