Shanghai Museum--- The museum, established in
1952, contains cultural relics of all the historical
periods in ancient China, plus books on historical relics
and paintings. The Shanghai Museum, one of the four
largest in China, contains 100,000 pieces. Its collections
of bronzes, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy and ancient
sculptures are among the best in China. It also has
a collection of ancient imperial signets, seals, coins
and artifacts. Replicas of ancient collections are for
sale.

Shanghai Museum of Natural History---The museum
has six departments: zoology, botany, astronomy, anthropology,
paleontology and geology. Current displays include ancient
mummies and relics of paleozoology.

Shanghai Art Museum---The art museum, opened
in 1956 as the Shanghai Art Gallery, shows fine art
works, both professional and amateur. In addition to
local art shows, it holds inter-city and inter-province
exhibits. The state-run museum also fosters academic
research and art exchanges. There is also a museum shop.

Jade Buddha Temple---Built in the architecture of
the Song Dynasty(960-1279), this temple has more than
three main halls and contains a giant jade Buddha and
more than 7,000 volumes of Tri-pitaka block prints from
the Qing Dynasty(1644-1911).

Dr Sun Yat-sen's Former Residence--- Dr Sun lived
here from 1920 to 1924. Most objects are original and
are arranged as actually used by China's first president.
